Abstract:Primordial non-Gaussian fluctuations in the mass density can give rise to unusual signatures in the large scale distribution of galaxies. These arise partly because galaxies do not trace the mass density. I review a possible mechanism for generating such fluctuations during an inflationary era in the early universe and briefly discuss the prospects for observing them in upcoming galactic surveys.
